Reaching toward the arch of the window frame, Maliha looped the string of gilded lanterns into place, her knuckles brushing against soft lace curtains. Below her, the family watched in quiet reverence, their faces bathed in warm amber light as dusk settled across the city's ancient minarets. Dadi clasped her hands over her chest, eyes shining with memories of holidays long past. "It catches the twilight perfectly," her father murmured, his voice thick with pride. Maliha turned, beaming down at the circle of love that made every shining star feel like home.
