Baby's first Christmas book made from a family photo: Leo's First Christmas, Mom and Dad hold baby Leo by the tree, his new stocking on the mantel

The First Christmas, Written Down

A baby won't remember their first Christmas. This book does it for them: the tree, the stocking with their name, the grandparents meeting them in the snow, written as a story and drawn from your photos so the faces are your family's.

  • The baby and family drawn from your photos, up to 4 people
  • A gentle Christmas story about the first year together
  • Your traditions in it: the tree, the stocking, who hosts dinner
  • A dedication page for the year and a note to read when they are older
  • Read-aloud simple now, or written for them to read themselves at ten: you pick the reading level

A New Stocking

Look, Leo! A red stocking! It says LEO. Grandpa hangs it up. Up, up, up! Mommy holds Leo close. Twinkle, twinkle, tree! Merry Christmas, Leo!

Leo's Stocking

Grandpa held up a tiny red stocking. It had Leo's name in white letters. "This one is new," Grandpa said. He hung it next to the others. Mommy carried Leo over to see. The tree lights blinked and glowed. Leo reached for the soft red sock. Now there was one more stocking!

One More on the Mantel

Grandpa climbed onto the step stool with something small and red tucked under his arm. It was a brand-new stocking, and stitched across the top in white letters was a name the mantel had never held before: LEO. Mom carried Leo close so he could see. The tree lights blinked gold and green. Leo stretched one hand toward the soft red fabric, and Grandpa laughed. "Next year," he said, "you can hang it yourself."

The Seventh Stocking

Every December the mantel held six stockings, each one faded a little more than the last. This year Grandpa added a seventh, small and bright red, the letters of Leo's name still stiff with new thread. Mom lifted Leo toward the glow of the tree so he could watch it hang. He reached for it with the solemn focus of someone claiming his place, and the whole room understood that the family's Christmases had quietly begun counting again.

Baby's first Christmas keepsake made from a family photo: Noah's First Christmas, Dad holds up a gold star ornament as baby Noah reaches for it

A Book That Grows Up With Them

You choose how it's written. First Adventure keeps it to a few simple words a page for reading aloud this December. Keepsake Narrative writes the same Christmas for an older reader, so at ten or twelve it's the book they read to find out what their first Christmas was like, and who was there.

Grandparents give it too: a book with them and the new grandchild in it, for the shelf at both houses.
